The Sacred Breath of Transition — Navigating Transitions in Life and Business

Finding alignment in life and business by honouring the in-between

Illustration of one tree shown across four seasons — winter, spring, summer, autumn — symbolizing transition and cycles of growth.

Transition is one of those parts of growth we don’t talk about much… but it’s usually where we struggle the most. It’s that in-between place, where the old has ended but the new hasn’t fully arrived.

And it can feel really uncomfortable. But if we can stay with it, instead of rushing ahead, this is often where the deepest shifts actually happen.

In my own business, I’ve noticed how easy it is to want to push into the next stage before I’ve really finished the one I’m in. Part of me just wants the fresh start straight away.

But transition doesn’t work like that. Waiting is uncomfortable… yet it’s usually in that pause where the real alignment happens.

This was a message that came through strongly in a recent Akashic Reading… that transition is never instant. Nature never just flicks a switch from winter to spring. It happens slowly, with false starts and in-between days. And it’s the same for us. We’re meant to move gradually, to let ourselves ease into the new season, instead of forcing it all at once.

The seasons show us how it really works — a time of softening, adjusting, pausing… even lingering… between what was and what’s still to come.

“Waiting is uncomfortable… yet it’s usually in that pause where the real alignment happens.”

So the question is… how do we actually hold ourselves through transition? For me, navigating transitions in life and business comes down to three simple things that help me find my way when I’m in the in-between.

1. Permission

Let yourself linger in the in-between a little longer than feels comfortable. Don’t rush to the next thing, even when you want to. Trust that something is happening underneath, even if you can’t see it yet.

2. Alignment

Pay attention to the little cues — your body asking you to rest, a flicker of new energy, or the spark of an idea that isn’t fully formed yet. These subtle signs remind us that something is moving, even if it’s not visible on the surface.

3. Reframing

Instead of treating transition as wasted time, see it as a sacred pause. Almost like a deep breath that holds and protects you until you’re ready for what’s next.

Transition isn’t wasted, and it isn’t wrong. It’s part of the cycle of growth. And often, it’s the part that matters most.

So I’ll leave you with this question: What season are you in right now… and can you give yourself permission to be with it, instead of rushing ahead?
