She Called Me to the Water: How Nature Helped Me Heal What I Didn’t Know Needed Healing

How Mother Earth met me in my resistance and gave me exactly what I didn’t know I needed

“Nature is calling you deeper into your true self.”
Have you ever resisted something so deeply… and then realised it was the exact thing your soul was longing for?
That was me. I didn’t know I was craving healing. I didn’t know I was holding so much resistance. And I certainly didn’t know that a spring in the Northern Territory would be the place to melt it all.
Last week, I returned from a trip up north to visit my daughter and get a glimpse into her life. I thought I was just going to be a mum. Instead, I was cracked open in the gentlest way by the land itself.
Even though we stayed near the city, the energy of ancient wisdom was everywhere — in the sky, the air, the trees, and the silence. It’s hard to describe. There was a deep, still knowing — a presence that didn’t need to be explained, only felt.
“You could feel the raw power of the wisdom and beauty this land holds.”
I’m not what you’d call an adventurer
Let’s just say that bush walks, swimming in wild places, or sweating under a humid sky are not my natural habitat. I prefer cool, calm, airconditioned comfort. Add in the very real possibility of prehistoric creatures hiding in murky places? That’s a firm no from me.
But that day… Nature called. And I surprised myself by saying yes.
We went to Berry Springs — a pretty little spot with clear thermal pools and gentle walking tracks. Just a couple of minutes from the carpark, we arrived at the kind of place you dream of: a natural oasis tucked under trees, with sunlight filtering through the leaves, and families floating in the water with pool noodles and easy smiles.
It felt safe. Human. Ordinary in the most magical way.
“There were the usual warning signs... and yet I knew I needed to experience the energy of these healing waters.”
Even with my inner hesitation and long-standing resistance in the form of anxiety and fear, something inside me softened. It was like Mother Nature had prepared this place just for me — a gentle invitation to meet the land in a way that didn’t require bravery or discomfort. Just presence.
Something shifted in me that day — not in a dramatic way, but in a quiet, cellular way. I felt reconnected, reset, and supported by something far older and wiser than my overthinking mind.
Healing doesn’t always look like what we expect
The rest of the week continued in this quiet rhythm — soft sunsets, wide horizons, time to sit and listen beside the ocean. I didn’t go seeking answers, but I received them anyway.
Sometimes we don’t know what we need until we allow ourselves to pause.
To listen.
To feel.
To be met by the Earth in our humanness.
“Mother Nature is waiting for you... always ready to serve, to hold you, to heal you, to support you.”
A gift for you
To honour this special trip, I’am offering a free meditation to guide you into your own experience of healing through nature.
As you listen, bring to mind a place in nature that feels safe and nourishing for you. Let that memory be a portal — a bridge to drop deeper into yourself and into the loving arms of Gaia.
Let it hold you.
What about you?
Have you ever been cracked open by the quiet power of nature?
Do you have a special place — a tree, a beach, a hidden spot — that feels like a balm for your soul?
I’d love to hear about it. You can share in the comments or send me a message — I always love hearing your stories.
With amazing love always xx Michelle ~ Kali Devi
